Schedule

  • Late September 2023 - Interest check is posted

  • Late October 2023 - Interest check closed, results compiled

  • Mid November 2023 - Mod applications open

  • Early December 2023 - Mod applications closed, application results sent

  • Mid December 2023 - Contributor applications open

  • Early January 2024 - Contributor applications close

  • Mid January 2024 - Application results sent, invites to server sent out, work begins on the zine!

  • February 16, 2024 - Pitches due

  • March 31, 2024 - Check in #1 due (concept sketches and outlines)

  • May 7, 2024 - Check in #2 due (solidified sketches, 25% fic written)

  • June 7, 2024 - Check in #3 due (flat colors, 75% fic written)

  • July 31st, 2024 - Final check in (all work completed)

  • October 31, 2024 - Final formatting checks and graphics due, zine compiled!

  • November 15, 2024 - Preorders opened!

  • December 15, 2024 - Preorders close, orders placed for merchandise and zine

FAQs

Who is running the zine?

Hello, my name is Halie, also going by cosmicallyhalie or alphalyrae online (Halie is perfectly fine though). I am admittedly new to running zines, having only run a small original collab zine called Floralis before, but I am looking to get more experience and bring a quality product to you all! I have been a zine contributor for many years in video game-themed zines, most notably Fire Emblem zines. I have also produced my own merchandise to sell at conventions. I will be the main mod, art and writing mod, graphics maven, social media promoter, formatting mod, and shipping mod.Mai Kusakabe has joined us as our finance mod, with a bevy of experience in roles of authority to boot! Please welcome Mai and talk to them concerning anything to do with finances.

What are the terms of service?

All contributors will retain full rights to their pieces, and will be allowed to post them online a week after physical zines and merch ships. They may post previews when the window is open, and are allowed to work in livestreams on their pieces (it is great for promotion, so I believe)! Selling their merchandise is totally allowed and your piece is not locked to the zine once production wraps. AI-generated creations are also not allowed in the zine.

Are there any guest artists?

There is currently one guest artist! Please welcome Vanie, who is an old stay in the Digimon fandom from the early days!

How many contributors are you looking for?

We currently have 10 artists, 2 guest artists, 4 merch artists, and 3 writers! Head mod Halie will also be contributing digital only merch to the zine.

Are creators who produce NSFW content allowed to apply?

We welcome any creator as long as they don't engage with NSFW of minors. Ideally, there would be a separate account for your NSFW work or adequate settings to separate your work, as there may be minors who want to purchase the zine and follow the artists.

What do contributors get?

All contributors get a free digital and physical copy of the zine, and ideally will get a full bundle as well! Any extra merchandise and zines can be purchased at production cost.

What is the minimum age for those interested in applying?

All artists should be at least 16 years or older, with mod applicants being 18 years or older.

Are shipping or AUs allowed?

As this is a friendship-themed zine, we will say to focus on that instead of anything romantic. Friendships between humans, humans and Digimon, and amongst the Digimon are encouraged! AUs are also not going to be allowed, as we want to keep things fairly canon.

Do you have a preference for English dub names or original names in our works?

Original names preferred as they're used more widely, I think!

What are the parameters for writing pieces, merch, and art pieces?

Are there going to be stretch goals for the preorder period, and if so, what are they? Who can contribute?

Unfortunately with the time crunch for the holidays, there will be no stretch goal merch, but we do have some goodies for you in the regular bundles that you can get!

What charity will proceeds after production costs be donated to?

The zine contributors have spoken and all profits will be donated the Palestine Children's Relief Fund; you can visit them here!

Zine Specs

Art Requirements

  • All single page work and standee work sheets should be completed on a A5 dimensions (5.8 x 8.3 in / 148 x 210 mm) paper size. Spreads should double that dimension. Bookmarks are working on a 2 in x 6 in / 50.8 x 152.4 mm scale.

  • All work should be a minimum of 300 dpi and saved in the CMYK format to ensure good print quality.

  • Templates are available on the Discord server as Carrd is struggling to let me link.

Writing Requirements

  • All work should be completed in Microsoft Word or Google Docs to ensure the writing mod can peruse and check the quality, as well as leave comments.

  • There is a 2500 word limit for fanfiction and a 1000 word limit for poetry.

  • Please keep the content appropriate and somewhat light, with a PG-13 rating at the very most. This is to ensure all readers have a good and comfortable time!
